Living in a
North American Union

By Dana Gabriel

To, some the very idea of a North American Union (NAU) might be new, but to the global elite, it has been part of their agenda for a long time. For the most part, it has been shielded and received very little in the way of media coverage. Without the spotlight and very little in the way of scrutiny, it has allowed those at the top of the power structure to essentially build the frame work for a NAU. Through trade deals such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) treaty, it has continued the further merging of the US, Canada, and Mexico. With the mechanism being put in place, it is setting the stage for full integration. Some in the alternative media have been warning of the dangers of a NAU for 5-10 years mostly succumbing to deaf ears. I for my part have been aware of this agenda for a number of years and have written and studied on the subject. I am appalled that most are still ignorant and unaware of such a plan and the lack of any real concern. This last year has seen some in the mainstream media, most notably Jerome Corsi and Lou Dobbs champion this cause and bring it to the forefront. Is it a case of too little too late; are we already living in a NAU? Many now recognize the fact that trade deals such as NAFTA and CAFTA are more then just about trade and in the first place they aren't even about fair or free trade, but a system of control. We have seen the continued destruction of the middle class as multinational corporations run wild, unchecked. The NAU will mean the end of our sovereignty forever.

A typical response by the elite or their miens to counter any unwanted attention to their agenda such as the NAU is to try and silence and demonize the opposition. Thus, those who talk of a NAU or its dangers, are labeled conspiracy theorists. If intimidation isn't successful, another angle is to simply spin the debate and praise its benefits. As with most ambitious agendas, it is being done incrementally to escape public attention. For those who take the time to research some of the governments own websites and hundreds of documents that have now been made public, they will see that it is far from a conspiracy. In fact the government's own SPP website now has a section entitled myth vs facts in some lame attempt to combat the negative attention it has been receiving. The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), an organization which has had its tentacles in almost every administration and was also focal in the creation of the United Nations, by its own admission, its aim is to kill American soverignty. It is not surprising that it is firmly behind a NAU and a one world government. Its Building a North American Community is essentially the blueprint for the merger between the US, Canada, and Mexico, with much of it incorporated into the SPP. I must stress that most of this is being done undercover in stealth mode, bypassing public and our elected officials.

There has been much talk of a NAFTA Superhighway that would run from Texas to Canada, built and even managed by foreign companies, with some sections being operated as toll roads. We have already witnessed some of Americas infrastructure being sold or leased to foreign companies, which will only further undermine our national sovereignty. The Superhighway would have truck only lanes and railway lines running parallel, further facilitating the flow of goods. It will also ultimately connect American consumers to low cost labor in Mexico. Much like NAFTA itself, it will benefit multinational corporations, allowing those with political connections to be rewarded. Republican Congressmen Ron Paul from Texas, sees the Superhighway as a larger goal, "an integrated North American Union, complete with a currency, a cross national bureaucracy and virtually border less travel within the union. Like the European Union, a North American Union would represent another step towards the abolition of national sovereignty altogether." It will also mean the loss of more American and Canadian jobs, while preserving and protecting corporate interests ahead of our own. The unholy alliance between government and multinational corporations has been exposed on so many levels. Our government has ceased to be for the people and has become of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich. As we see an even bigger gap between rich and poor there is a sense that it is the end of the middle class as we know it. A NAU will only help further widen that gap.

Resistance is mounting as many are waking up to the reality of a NAU, including some in Congress. Republican Congressman Virgil Goode from Virgina introduced a resolution stating that Congress should not engage in the construction of a NAFTA Superhighway or any other agreement that promotes or advances the concept of a North American Union. Co-sponsors included Rep. Thomas Tancredo, R-Colo, Ron Paul, R-TX, and Walter Jones, R-N.C. With the NAU being more fully exposed, it will be increasingly harder to silence the growing criticism. It could also be an issue that unites those of different political affiliations and Ron Paul has stated it could become a sleeper issue in 2008. Still there seems to be an almost blackout on the part of the mainstream media and an unwillingness to discuss or write on the subject. We saw much of the same with CAFTA. Recently Robert Pastor a CFR member and a leading proponent of the creation of a NAU said a new 9/11 crisis would be the catalyst to merge the US, Canada, and Mexico. Also a severe downturn in the economy and the collapse of the US dollar could create the right climate whereas the masses would accept a NAU. Inside a NAU the US, Canada, and Mexico will cease to exist as sovereign nations. I'm sure the history books will be rewritten to paint the globalists as our loving saviors.

If a NAU is to be modeled after the EU, what will it look like in its final consummation if all three countries achieve full integration politically, economically and even militarily. No borders will allow for the freer movement of citizens, including labor mobility. Under the guise of trade, we will further merge our economies including one currency, the Amero; one passport, one immigration and refugee policy. Also, one security regime and foreign policy; as well as a common set of environmental, health, and safety standards. This could also include a common visitor screening, cargo inspection, custom policies as well as the creation of a trinational threat intelligence center with more law enforcement coordination. In the final stages of a NAU you could see the merging of our laws, a new NAU constitution with even its own army. This is but a wish list of the global elite as their agenda is very ambitious. The good news is, it is encountering more and more opposition and what is at stake is our national sovereignty and the ability to control our own independence.

Most discussions concerning the formation of a NAU have been done in secret and for the most part have received very little in the way of mainstream media converge. This has had to be done under the radar because those in power are quite aware that most people would reject the very notion of a NAU. It hasn't even been voted on by any elected body. As is the case with the WTO, we see unelected bureaucrats, back room politicians setting policies thus shaping our futures seemingly without any oversight. There has been a strong backlash and we must build upon that foundation. We need to form more coalitions and forge alliances straight across the board. If we don't, we will see more trade deals such as the FTAA and the creation of a Pan-American Union. We need to stop this destructive cycle for our children's sake, for our country, and what is left of our sovereignty before it is too late.
