New GOP’s First Resolution

Sunday, November 16, 2008

By Terry Funderburk

I have been reading stories this week about how the GOP is beginning to reform itself and move to a more conservative stance. So far it has only been talk because the leaders responsible for bringing down the party the last few years are still in charge and are running things full steam ahead and the cliff edge is in sight. The party is in shambles because of them and here they are thinking that it is going to be business as usual. They’re stumbling around the pieces of the collapse trying to forget that they just lost all credibility they have with us and think that we are going to fall for it hook, line and sinker.

Let me give you an example of the old and new GOP. Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) just this week said that he had received a call from President-elect Barack Obama about John McCain and him working closely with the new Democrat administration on things near and dear to liberals’ hearts. Comprehensive immigration reform was brought up during the chat, which was probably the number one reason Graham received the call. The new president has watched Graham backstab his own party the last few years whenever an immigration bill came up in the Senate and expects his support when the new administration takes over. This is a prime example of the old defunct Republican party that died on election day. Lindsey Graham politics are like an extinct dinosaur that doesn’t realize it is dead yet.

The new GOP currently being formed is moving to the right where it should have been all along. Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina (same state as Graham is from) is a prime example of a conservative leader that is trying to fix what went wrong with his party. This week DeMint slammed McCain and other liberal Republicans like him for betraying conservative values. The difference between the two Senators is like night and day when it comes to their politics. Senator DeMint listens to his constituents and is trying to fix what ails the GOP and here is his exact opposite trying to put the finishing touches of destruction on the party of Lincoln. Senator Graham’s politics is whatever John McCain demands and will only heed his constituents when it comes election time. Senator Graham doesn’t care that it is his policies that have brought about the ruin of his party.

So I have some advice for the new GOP when they finally take charge. Put Jim DeMint in charge and kick Lindsey Graham’s sorry backstabbing ass out of the Republican Party. Make that your first act and conservatives like me will start coming back to the GOP in droves. Remove yourselves completely from the fools that have brought you down. Fix what ails your party by getting rid of the deadweight like Graham and McCain because if you don’t the Republican Party is going to remain as dead as that dinosaur.

I am still trying to grasp the idea that my senator is back to his amnesty for 38 million illegal alien invaders game. Ten million Americans are out of work and his first thoughts after winning reelection is to guarantee that they will remain unemployed for the greater global good. Lindsey Graham might be my senator but he does not represent me and never has. Senator Graham is a knot on the bumpy log of conservatism and needs to be removed because it is the ones like him that brought the GOP to this sad state of affairs. Our economy is in shambles and instead of offering ideas to put Americans back to work he wants to hasten their destruction. Is there anything conservative in this?

So GOP, ditch the deadweight. Dump Graham, show us that you deserve our support if you are really interested in reforming the Republican party. What better way to prove it than telling the country club elite that their membership in the party of Lincoln is no longer wanted or desired? What better way to show us that to get rid of the fools that destroyed it?

Terry Funderburk lives in Columbia, SC and his livelihood is construction which he has been in for over two decades. He was forced into the Pro-American movement on July 16 2007. On that day his constitutional rights were violated, a protest sign was jerked out of my hands and he was handcuffed and jailed. For what? For calling an employer of illegal workers a cheap bastard. He spent a day in jail and 6 different court dates before my case was finally heard by a jury of my peers, who found him not guilty. He not only had his rights violated but was threatened in court numerous times by the prosecutor to plead guilty which he refused to do. He has no faith in the legal/criminal justice because of his experiences. In his opinion the justice establishment has completely failed the American people in this regard. Our courts were put there to safeguard the solemn rights of the American people they have failed in that. And it is up to us to set things right, because our leaders and institutions have allowed themselves to be corrupted.
