What is NAU and Why
Should You Care?

By Catherine Whelan Costen

Historically speaking a country is usually lost through war or aggression. Canada, the United States of America and Mexico are three separate, unique, sovereign nations. That is about to change without an invasion or missile attack. None of the terrorist threats we are continually told to fear, are the threats that we face as free people. The real threat to our freedom, our way of life and our future, is the North American Union. Anyone who clings to the hope that the people will be given a say in this matter, will be disappointed to discover that most of the deals have been signed without you. It began with Free Trade, then NAFTA , CAFTA and now SSP (security and prosperity partnership) also referred to as NASPI ( North American Security and Prosperity Initiative ).

Regardless of how we became citizens of our respective countries, we are citizens of countries that claim to be democratic. That has been changing right in front of us but without our awareness.

There is a difference between telling it like it is and being an alarmist. The North American Union (NAU) is not an abstract supposition or fictional ‘what if’. It is destroying us and our values by stealth. Every citizen from every country needs to be informed of the facts. Although the mainstream media is not reporting this threat, (with the exception of Lou Dobbs on CNN) there is plenty of factual data available for those who seek it. Canadian Action Party website has dedicated a great deal of research and writing to this situation. There are so many trade deals and changes to our laws that the disclosure required a three part document, (30 pages to compress the extensive research I did) written by CAP Leader Connie Fogal, it is called, ‘THE METAMORPHOSIS AND THE SABOTAGE OF CANADA BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT’. It is reported in the news that Jack Layton has his man on it, (referring to MP Peter Julienne) however is it enough? CBC declares it isn’t happening and for many people denial is easier than taking a stand.

The question for Canadians, Americans and Mexicans is, ‘how much do we want our own nation; our right to live in peace; our fundamental right to freedom and real living democracy?’ There was a time in every one of these countries that the people wanted those things desperately. They did not want to live as an oppressed people.

The bureaucrats of 2007 are breaking new ground. The dictionary definition of bureaucrat sums it up nicely:

-noun -an official in a government department

*• an administrator concerned with procedural correctness at the expense of people's needs.

If you examine the various deals such as; The Smart Regulations, Smart Borders, Security and Prosperity Agreement/Partnership (SPP) and so forth, you will note that these deals were not debated in Parliament. Why not? The first SSP was signed by Martin, Fox and Bush without consultation of the people. The second was signed by Harper, Fox and Bush again without consultation of the people. Neither were debated in Parliament. The secret meetings, (now exposed) held in the fall 2006 in Banff, Alberta were attended by many unelected, unaccountable members from the corporate world, to discuss the implementation of the NAU. You can read the details including agenda and attendees at www.canadianactionparty.ca www.vivelecanada.ca

Citizens in a democracy are called to ask questions and demand answers. What right does any member of government, or non-government agency, or corporate CEO, have to enter into agreements which result in the loss of our country’s sovereignty? Is this, in fact, not explicitly illegal?

This excerpt from a December ’06 article by Jerome R. Corsi explains a great deal:

“Robert Pastor, a leading intellectual force in the move to create an EU-style North American Community, told WND he believes a new 9/11 crisis could be the catalyst to merge the U.S., Mexico and Canada.”

The NAU is on its way in. It is also referred to as Fortress America. That may give some people a better understanding of what it is all about. Perpetual war, terror, enslavement, loss of freedom, loss of civil rights, much of which we have already begun to feel. None of which speaks to the peace that human beings desire. War is a money maker and the NAU is the strength behind the agenda.

The questions are; whether it is for the benefit of the people of these three nations? If the people of the nations should be informed, consulted and permitted to decide if this is the future they desire? Thus far the evidence indicates the NAU facilitates the ease of movement for corporate rule. Just as the victims of war are considered nothing more than collateral damage, where the end justifies the means, the citizens of these nations (about to be servants of a NAU) are nothing more than inventory, part of the machinery, the consumption factor and sometimes dispensable. Every dream of healthy living, in a clean environment, free of violence and greed depends on the will of the people. What we desire to build for ourselves and our children requires our input. The NAU takes us out of the equation. We are reduced to subjects in a society of corporate rule. Corporations rule according to their profit margins, not a moral code. Corporations are not people and they do not have a conscience. We do.

The NAU is the harmonization of laws, resources, food and healthcare standards, environmental guidelines and eraser of borders for the benefit of corporations. It voids all constitutions. It means everything including our military, water, oil, monetary system and people fall under their control. Who are they? Unelected, unaccountable, bureaucrats and corporate CEO’s from the most powerful corporations on the planet. They have been empire building for generations and they are about to see the fruits of our labour. I do not expect them to succeed, but their efforts will cost us dearly the longer we ignore the threat. What is the definition of Communism, Stalinism, Fascism that the free world so vehemently abhors? None function like a democracy! As each citizen refers to their country as their home, we can consider our homes and all our resources being placed into a collective pot, controlled and used according to the corporate masters wishes. That is my understanding of the North American Union, aka Fortress America.

I’d rather be Canadian! I’d rather build than destroy. I’d rather stand for peace as we have professed for years. I’d rather raise the standard of living for all people of the world through fair trade and responsible international agreements. I’d rather support healthy people than feed the pharmaceuticals. I’d rather encourage good farm practices by family farmers, than fast food and genetically modified or altered nutrients. I’d rather educate our children than indoctrinate them with illusions. I’d rather create safe, viable communities that support all life forms. I’d rather promote new and better sources of energy that sustain the planet and do no harm. I’d rather have a true living democracy than live as a slave under corporate rule. We need to know the alternatives and not just the problems.

I’d REALLY rather be Canadian!
