When I was a child growing up in New Jersey, there was a local toy store (the name escapes me) that would run a contest around the holidays where the winners, always children, got ten-minutes to shop for free and put whatever they could grab into their baskets. It was televised and was right up there with Wonderama, Captain Kangaroo and Romper Room. We all fantasized about being those kids in the proverbial toy store, not knowing what to select and a getting a big fat “gimme” at the checkout.
The Democrats are engaged in a toy store fantasy right now as they move swiftly to put whatever crazy, left-wing, looney legislation they can find, into their shopping baskets before the toy store proprietor (us) realizes we made a mistake. Despite minimal public support, record unemployment levels and hard evidence that global warming is a scam, the left are now pushing for healthcare, immigration and climate change legislation. (formerly global warming until the word got out the planet is actually getting colder)
They cannot even get the scorecards straight on their own side. Instead of leading this bunch of charlatans, President Obama is being led by them. He selects Senator Charles Shumer for the immigration initiative only to have Rep. Gutierrez, fresh off his Hispanic caucus thrashing of the President, conclude he has a better idea and moves ahead without Obama and with an amnesty plan sure to please the La Raza crowd and infuriate nearly everyone else.
Climategate? Well let’s not allow a 1,000 or so emails implicating wide-scale climate change fraud get in the way of a deeply entrenched lefty scam. There is too much money riding on this thing now to let it fail because of something silly like the truth after all.
On Christmas Eve at 8:00 in the morning, (even Harry Reid’s own team, reportedly balked at the 1AM scheduled vote) the Democrats will put forth voting on a massive healthcare bill that nobody but them wants. Why the rush? Reid knows if his Senators have to go home to their Districts for the Holidays and the constituent beat-down they are sure to receive, the 60-vote margin necessary for passage will never hold up. He has to get their votes in cement now or forever hold his ...
For the next nine-months you will find Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Durbin and all of their wild, crazy, cronies lurking in the shadows, trying desperately to get as many bills passed as they can before the American public sends them packing next November. Then we’ll start the process of dismantling the carnage their toy store frenzy has created. The constitutional challenges are already well underway. We do have time to fix this even though the Dem's are trying to slide an unconstitutional changes clause under the wire. Real healthcare reform won't occur until 2014 in this bill but the taxes to pay for it start in 2010.
With votes in the dark of night, bills that no one gets to read before passing and sweetheart deals to hardball playing politicians, the democrats are indeed setting records as the most corrupt bunch of lunatics ever to run the asylum. Or are they?
I am reminded of another Christmas Eve debacle nearly 100 years ago, when a majority Democrat Congress (63rd) met in the dark of night to pass legislation they couldn’t get approved in the bright light of day. The original “progressive” and one of President Obama's political hero's and fellow Nobel Peace Prize recipients, Woodrow Wilson, led the initiative. Today we have the Federal Reserve to thank for those efforts, another brilliant move by globalist/socialist moneychangers intent on ruling the world. Time may pass but the overarching goals are still the same. Control. Control. Control. What is that old expression about history repeating itself?
