Frances Semler, the proud Minuteman Civil Defense Corps volunteer who was
appointed last summer to the Kansas City Parks Commission, has resigned her
Parks Commission post after withstanding seven months of physical and verbal
assaults by racialists who viciously opposed her affiliation with MCDC and our
mission to restore America as a law-and-order country. Unfortunately, Kansas
City Mayor Mark Funkhouser chose to play racial politics and cater to the
bigotry of the open borders lobby rather than support his own appointee. MCDC
commends long-time civic activist, Frances Semler, and looks forward to her
renewed volunteered efforts with MCDC.
In two weeks, our MCDC Midwest Leadership Retreat kicks off in Kansas City,
where our brave volunteer will detail her courageous struggle in defense of MCDC
and our all-American mission. Frances’ outstanding record of civic service
represents everything that is decent, patriotic and humane about our mission to
protect America’s tradition of the rule of law, and she will share her
compelling story with us.
Frances Semler and MCDC continue to endure vicious attacks from the ACLU,
National Council of La Raza and other “racialist” groups who use scare tactics
and distortion in attempts to defame us. They lie about our mission and our
actions to provide false justification for their advocacy of illegal behavior.

Since July 2007, Frances believed she had the support of the Mayor and
courageously endured vicious attacks from the ACLU, National Council of La Raza
and other open-border, race-based groups who used scare tactics, threats,
intimidation, and coercion in relentless attempts to force her resignation from
the Kansas City Parks Commission Board, as well as from the Minuteman Civil
Defense Corps. With Mayor Funkhouser’s recent duplicitous political actions and
remarks, Frances decided to step down from her appointment.
For the last few years, we Minutemen have been alerting the public to
critical threats against our national security, our national sovereignty, and
our American cultural identity by these same open border organizations.
Since our founding, we have succeeded in forcing our government several steps
closer towards securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws, but we
still have many more obstacles to overcome before we can say, “MISSION
ACCOMPLISHED.”
While our opponents engage in race baiting, lies and intimidation techniques,
the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps will continue with our plans to host our first
two-day, leadership retreat on February 1-2, 2008, in a peaceful and
professional manner, just as our SOP manual details. While Congress
reneges on its prior promise to build a physical border fence, and refuses to
issue an emergency spending bill in order to re-authorize funding it has
stripped from this commitment to the American people, our MCDC retreat will
provide special educational focus on how to hold lawmakers accountable. We
need to hold their feet to fire about building the fence, enforcing immigration
laws, and returning the National Guard to defend the border from foreign
invasion.
Our retreat next month is an important benchmark in MCDC’s public education
outreach, and in our institutional growth. It will teach current
volunteers to enhance their advocacy techniques at the federal level, as well as
during their own state legislative cycles thru a nuts-and-bolts grassroots
training session, in the same city where La Raza has worked tirelessly to defame
us.
Through our public event, Kansas City residents will have the
opportunity to see for themselves that we are patriotic citizens just like those
members of their community, representing many segments of this nation’s
citizenry, who like Frances Semler simply want the rule of law
enforced.
True to our mission, Minutemen volunteers are continuing to do the job our
government refuses to do. While illegal aliens protest in public venues
demanding we reward their criminal behavior with social services and Amnesty,
our volunteers are standing in the gap at our porous borders, supporting our

The Minuteman Corps support Frances’ decision to resign in order to continue
fighting the hate-filled, bigoted and racialist agenda of the open borders
lobby, who seek to defame the character and destroy the morale of any
individual, organization or government entity that poses a threat to their
program. Their objectives are explicitly raced-based, and include
hate-mongering and racial divisiveness that encourages exclusionary politics of
race and ethnic preferences, and selective enforcement of our laws.
When open borders advocates began attacking her, Frances Semler said, “Our
government seemed to be consciously neglecting the enforcement of our
immigration laws, so I felt the need to join with others and selected the
Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.” Semler believes in an America where people
respect and obey the laws of the land. She believes that one of the major
threats to a moral way of life is official indifference to the undermining of
the rule of law posed by illegal immigration.
MCDC seeks the fair and equitable enforcement of the laws of our
country, for all—without fear or favor, and especially without consideration of
the invidious categories of race. Our victories last year that kept New York
State from issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, as well as in Arizona
and Oklahoma passing enforcement of strict employment verification laws
encouraged our opponents to step up their mean-spirited attacks against Frances
Semler in Kansas City.
This year we must ensure that we experience victories in all 50 states and in
Washington, DC to the benefit of the rule of law, and the protection of ALL,
INCLUDING legal citizens. The first regional leadership retreat in Kansas
City, in honor of Frances Semler, is the MCDC kick-off to what promises to be a
pivotal year. Minutemen volunteers from chapters in the following states
are expected to be present for the Kansas City training: Kansas, Missouri,
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota,
Wisconsin, Ohio, Nebraska, Iowa and Indiana.
We know that while enduring attacks from a vocal minority of detractors,
comprising open border lobbyists and pro-illegal alien advocates, we are
ensuring the safety and security of our children and grandchildren. It is
up to us to keep the pressure on Washington lawmakers to restore funding for the
construction of the physical border fence, and post the National Guard back on
the border in the meantime, in order to fend off the waves of illegal entrants,
many with contacts to organized crime, who are flooding our communities.
We recently learned that armed Mexican soldiers and Mexican law enforcement
officers have been documented violating our porous borders at least 29 times in
2006, and a total of 253 times since 1996. In fact, U.S. Border Patrol
agents have been attacked 1,000 times in 2007 while attempting to secure our
borders without the necessary resources from the U.S. federal government.
MCDC is committed to have our retreat serve as a means to inform more citizens
about our need to help our hard-pressed Border Patrol agents.
Today, these illegal entrants have little to be worried about—and
they know it!
The United States Congress returned to work from the Christmas recess,
without the intent to restore the funding of the border fence. Therefore,
we must make it a key objective this year to ensure Congress feels the pressure
to restore the $3 Billion dollars in funding they stripped towards the
construction of the border fence, while we also fight to make our state
legislatures implement strict employment verification laws.

Over 2,000 illegal entrants violate our sovereign borders on a daily basis,
and if you live anywhere near these cities, you may have already seen them
flooding into:
Brownsville, San Diego, El Centro, Yuma, Tucson, El Paso, Mafa,
Lareda and McAllen….
And in each of these towns, the U.S. Border Patrol is obliged to leave our
borders unguarded while they track illegal entrants inland, without the
resources they need to do their job, while trying to protect us from those who
viciously prey on our country through its open borders. It is this reality
that compels the Minutemen to plan our advocacy campaigns for all of 2008,
demanding that our government restore the money for the fence construction and
put the National Guard back on our frontline—the Southern border with
Mexico—until the border fence is completed and the border is demonstrably
secure.

If our government had already built a physical border fence, we would not
have to worry that our friends, family and neighbors would be at risk from
attacks by those violent criminals hiding among the 12 million or more illegal
aliens—unidentified killers and rapists, thugs, drug dealers, “soldiers” in
international crime syndicates and al-Qaeda terrorists—already living in your
local community. We would not have to worry about statistics and
government documents that detail the invasion from the Mexican Army that
continues to go unpunished, and without any plan to stop them.

When the Mexican army escorts drug dealers across the border, they send
assailants to distract and imperil our U.S. Border Patrol agents by hailing
rocks, bottles, bricks and sometimes bullets, so their friends in the gangs and
international drug cartels can transport their narcotics and underage girls and
boys for sex trafficking into our country. While “the assailants try to distract
the agents long enough to let people dash in the United States,” our U.S. Border
Patrol agents have become the recipients of multiple broken bones and other
medical traumas for which we the taxpayer must foot the bill.
As you know, our country is generally led by weak-kneed politicians whose
public policies will shift with the trends of polling numbers and elite media
preferences. THEY SOMETIMES TALK THE TALK, BUT THEY RARELY WILL WALK THE
WALK!
Their lack of action demonstrates that our brave men and women of the U.S.
Border Patrol may never get the support they need to do their sworn job and keep
our families safe—unless we make our voices heard—loud and often. While we
would rather just focus on our daily activities in our local communities, we
cannot afford to become inattentive, over-confident or apathetic about our
mission, and therefore must succeed in recruiting as well as teaching citizens
when we visit Kansas City next month, that MCDC is protecting them from the
dangers of an open border, when our government refuses to step up and do its
job.
You can count on the open borders lobby and the Mexican government to do all
in their power to see that the National Guard is NEVER posted back on our
border—they have vast influence in Washington and will use it to devastating
effect—if we let them. That is why we must take action NOW and voice our
outrage to the political elite who refuse to help our undermanned agents on the
border.
In fact, representatives of the Mexican government have said that we
have NO RIGHT to defend ourselves from attacks incurred by THEIR citizens on our
Border Patrol agents. The AP reported that in November 2007, “Mexico’s
acting consul general in San Diego, Richard Pineda, has insisted that U.S.
authorities stop firing onto Mexico soil.”

Next month we will tell citizens in the Midwest that the border fences being
built by the Minutemen have been a driving force, compelling the federal
government to finally act to construct some fence barriers, and the ranchers
along the border in Arizona say it well: “The government wasn’t doing
anything until the Minutemen showed up.” Minutemen must continue
to keep the pressure on and ensure that these first government spans are not
just for show, and make the federal government actually “BUILD IT”—talk is
cheap, and virtual fence is not an actual fence.
For months we have heard Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John McCain and
others talk about the need for “change” in Washington. However, the real
change that this nation needs is a return to the rule of law… and
that will only happen when we make our voices heard loud and clear as we did
last June in order to defeat the Senate’s odious amnesty bill.
Together, we will show the world that the America we love does not
care for empty words. We care for action!

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR LAWMAKERS TO KEEP THEIR OATH OF OFFICE,
PROTECT AND DEFEND AMERICA FROM ALL ENEMIES!
Within the next year, thousands more thugs, terrorists and
international drug cartel “soldiers” will harm our citizens unless we put the
National Guard back on our embattled Southern border.
The MCDC Midwest retreat will ensure we pursue strong enforcement efforts at
all 50 state legislatures this year, even though our top priorities will remain
NO AMNESTY and the restoration of the $3 Billion dollars previously allocated
for the physical border fence—with no rest until we succeed. We must let
the Washington politicians know that THE FENCE IS A DEAL-BREAKER FOR
THEIR RE-ELECTION; that we will remain vigilant in our mission to
secure our nation’s borders, and if they are seeking re-election later this
year, they “better get with the program”!
In order to ensure the promises President Bush and the Congress made ARE KEPT
to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws during the 110th
Congressional Session, we must get vocal NOW! We cannot allow slick
politicians to use double-talk and think that they can go unpunished when after
twelve months, they only have 20 miles of fencing constructed, rather than the
700 miles we were promised.

We must do everything we can to secure our borders in the 110th
Congress. We must keep up the pressure on cowardly, weak-kneed politicians
who will do the right thing to protect and defend America ONLY if they hear from
