ACTION ALERT

The American Elections Act

Monday, April 26, 2010

By Frank McGlynn
Acting Executive Director

Contact your Representative urging them to support passage of H.R.764, the American Elections Act.

Did multilingual ballots and illegal alien voting determine who won close races in the last election?  Who knows for sure?  But what I can tell you, for certain, is that, every year, more and more Americans are having their votes cancelled out by tens of thousands of people unlawfully voting in federal elections.  Are you upset that your vote could be cancelled out by an unlawful voter and your government is doing nothing about it?  You ought to be.  Your right to vote is the only thing that keeps our government in check.  Without it, America would quickly become another country where the government rules - not serves - the people.  Although most of the nations of the world have an official language, the United States does not.  We never thought we would need one.  And, until a couple of decades ago, we didn't.

America was known as the "melting pot."   Immigrants from all different races, colors and nationalities, from every corner of the globe came to America for a better way of life.  They wanted to learn our language, our culture and our American way of life.  And that's why America never bothered to make English our official language.  But now, things have changed.  Instead of immigrants adopting our way of life, today's immigrants are demanding that we turn our country upside down to suit them!

Bilingual ballots, bilingual education; bilingual services in welfare offices; hospitals; motor vehicle bureaus; where will it end? It will end with Americans losing their country altogether!

English First has long fought to make English the official language of the United States.  One of the primary reasons for an official language was to ensure that our nation remain united by our common language.  For two hundred years our common language has been the glue that held this nation together.  Today, we are beginning to see what happens when this strong bond is weakened.

Bilingual ballots serve as a dramatic example of how the lack of a common language opens the door to division, corruption and the destruction of the very pillars upon which our nation stands.

Why does America need bilingual ballots at all?  Among the requirements of citizenship in the United States is the ability to read, write and speak English.  And since only citizens are eligible to vote, there is absolutely no need for bilingual ballots.  With your help, today, we are going to take the first major step to ensure that English is the only language used to vote for candidates in U.S. elections.

Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV) introduced H.R. 764, the American Elections Act, "to require that ballots used in Federal elections be generally printed only in English".  Thank heavens we still have some Congressmen left who care about what's good for America.  H.R. 764 already has 36 cosponsors, but the bill is being bottled up in a Civil Rights subcommittee by far-left leaning Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York.

We intend to alert the media that the Congressman who is chairing the Sub-Committee on the Constitution and Civil Rights seems to be deliberately doing whatever he can to stop a bill that would restore the American people's faith in the ballot box.  But our success depends on your participation.  Your own Representative can play an important role in applying pressure on Rep. Nadler to move this bill through his committee.

Please click here to send a prewritten email to your Representative to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 764

and apply pressure on the Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler to allow a vote on this bill.

Last, but not least, we really need your support right now.   We are not only your eyes and ears in Washington, but also your strong voice in all matters concerning language issues.  But to remain vigilant takes money.  And, as you might imagine, support during these difficult times has fallen off.  But we continue to work at the same level in our efforts to prevent further assaults on our language by those whose views differ radically from mainstream AmericaSo please help us remain strong by contributing whatever you can afford.  It all helps and is seriously needed at this time.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Frank McGlynn

Executive Director
